Two specialist societies published a guideline on medicines for primary biliary cholangitis, a long-term autoimmune liver disease. It backs ursodeoxycholic acid as the first treatment, blood tests that may let some people skip a liver biopsy, and further drugs for people who need another option or have moderate to severe itching.
